"If you care for journeys there and back, out of the comfortable world, over the edge of the Wild, and home again, and can take an interest in a humble hero (blessed with a little wisdom and a little courage and considerable good luck), here is a record of such a journey and such a traveler. . . . In following the path of this humble adventurer, you will learn by the way (as he did) ...if you do not already know all about these things...much about trolls, goblins, dwarves, and elves, and get some glimpses into the history and politics of a neglected but important period." ....From J.R.R. Tolkien's own description for the original edition

> Ian Holm as Bilbo James Mcavoy as Mr. Tumnus
Will James Mcavoy be Bilbo Baggins in the coming up Hobbit movie? This has been rumored for awhile but several actors are being considered. I thought he was super as Mr. Tumnus in C. S. Lewis's "The Lion. the Witch and the Wardrobe but maybe a bit thin for a hobbit? I know Frodo was thin but Bilbo is really supposed to be kind of chubby. There is somewhat of a resemblance to Ian Holm so they most likely could make it work. If he could put on a few pounds like Sean Astin did for the part of Samwise Gamgee, he might be perfect.
Artistic people have made some really cool trailers for the Hobbit Movie. This one stars Gollum. I will be posting different ones often so check back to see them.
"Truly songs and tales fall utterly short of the reality,
O Smaug the Chiefest and Greatest of Calamaties," replied Bilbo.
"You have nice manners for a thief and a liar," said the dragon.
"You seem familiar with my name, but I don't seem to remember smelling
you before. Who are you and where do you come from, may I ask?"
"You may indeed! I come from under the hill, and under the hills and over
the hills my paths led. And through the air. I am he that walks unseen."
"So I can well believe," said Smaug, "but that is hardly your usual name."
"I am the clue-finder, the web-cutter, the stinging fly.
I was chosen for the lucky number."
"Lovely titles!" sneered the dragon. "But lucky numbers don't always
come off."
I will take the Ring, "he said, "though I do not know the way. "Elrond raised his eyes and looked at him."This is the hour of the Shire-folk, when they arise
from their quiet fields,
to shake the towers and counsels of the Great. Who of all the Wise could have foreseen it?"
